It’s a good thing when women are more integrated, whole, powerful beings. Everyone benefits. I didn’t realize just how incredible it is to have powerful women at the table. Today I bring you four stories of what we’re capable of together.
In Japan, for example, it’s customary for women to manage household finances and investments. It’s significant enough that institutional investors have had to tune into their values and tastes to compete in the market. Of course, those men initially scoffed and tried to scare them out of the game, but the ladies prevailed and earned their nickname, Mrs. Watanabe.
The women of Iceland have successfully shut down the country with one-day strikes to address gender pay equality. Think about it – all 365 days a year they have the authority that comes from knowing that they can do it as often as it is called for if/when men don’t listen.
Folk music defeated the Soviet Union with a bloodless uprising called The Singing Revolution in Estonia.
Well done, ladies, well done.
